You are to be commended for maximizing the resources at your disposal, and we know that you often incur expenses of your own to benefit your students. To support you, IEF has pledged to fund fifty (50) $250 Teacher Grants.

The IEF Teacher Grant application window is now ope. The maximum amount per project is $250. Each teacher can submit a maximum of two applications as the lead teacher. BEFORE designing your proposal, please be sure to read all APPLICATIONS GUIDELINES and FAQs below:
Please remember to include your cost estimates (including shipping and tax), and make sure the totals match the amount that you are applying for (under or equal to the maximum amount of $250). ONLY applications submitted through the online application below will be considered.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • MARCH 1, 2020- Deadline to submit application
  • MARCH 18, 2020 BOARD MEETING- Grant recipients honored at the IUSD Board Meeting
  • MAY 31, 2020- Deadline for final submission of financial reimbursement receipts

APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

We encourage you to apply for funding for anything that you think will benefit the children in your classrooms, but priority will be given to proposals with the following features:

  • Originality. While grants are often provided to implement things being done elsewhere in the district, your application is more likely to be selected if it represents something new and innovative.
  • Enhances and compliments your existing curriculum.
  • Goals and purpose are clearly stated in the application.
  • Benefits a larger number of students (i.e. multiple classrooms, grades or sections).
  • Materials or equipment purchased can be reused.
Items that will not be considered for funding:
  • iPads, tablets, laptops/computers and Apple TVs will not be funded. Software and Hardware will also not be funded. Online apps will only be permitted if they have been approved by the district. All other requests for technology related items may be considered, and will be reviewed by IUSD’s IT Department.
  • Costs to attend conferences and workshops will not be funded.
  • School supplies that are supposed to be provided by school sites (i.e. pencils, paper, crayons)
  • Food or beverages
If you have a question regarding what you are thinking of submitting, please use the contact us form at inglewoodeducationalfoundation.com.

FAQ’s

WHO CAN APPLY?

Any certificated K-12 classroom teacher in the IUSD is eligible and encouraged to apply.

HOW MUCH CAN I REQUEST?

This year, proposals up to $250 will be considered for funding. You can submit up to two grant requests of $250.

MAY I MODIFY MY APPLICATION AFTER THE DEADLINE?

No. If the selection committee has minor clarifying questions, you will be contacted. Even this information is limited as we will not consider new information if it changes the intent or scope of the project.

WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET?

Your budget should be a detailed list of all expenses, including materials, fees, compensation, taxes, shipping, etc. Reimbursement will not be made for items not specifically listed in the original budget. Legitimate subsitiutions for original items must be approved in advance.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THE GRANTS FUNDS?

If selected, you will receive a contract. You should sign the contract and return it to the Foundation office as soon as possible in order to receive the grant funds in installements. You will be invited to the March Board Meeting for public recognition of your grant award and a check equal to 50% of the budget.
On or before May 31, 2020 send all your receipts along with a final accounting to the Foundation office. Shortly after that, you will receive an amount equal to your expenses, or the $250 limit, less the 50% already funded.

MAY I APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE GRANT?

Yes, you may submit two applications maximum. The selection committee will assume that you will implement both of them should they both be funded. If you are submitting a second application, you will need to do so from a computer/device different from the one you completed your first application on.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I EXCEED MY GRANT AMOUNT?

The Foundation does not pay for cost overruns. Please be realistic when you prepare your budget. The Foundation will not pay for items not included in the original grant.

HOW ARE RECIPIENTS SELECTED?

A committee of volunteers from the IEF Board of Directors will read the applications and select recipients. The selection process is confidential and all applications will be judged blindly; that is, the school name and the name of the teacher will be blacked out.
